Dr Uludag has degree in chemical engineering (BSc; METU), biotechnology (PhD; Cranfield University, UK) and more than 16 years professional experience in the area of biosensors. After completing a master’s degree in biochemistry, she worked at two University of Cambridge spin-off companies (Affinity Sensors and Akubio Ltd.) at different positions. Currently she holds a chief researcher position at BILGEM-TUBITAK. Not only did she use different commercial biosensor instruments (optical, piezoelectric and electrochemical) but was also involved in the development of new biosensor devices and sensor chips from prototype to commercial products, and some of the products she developed, or was involved in its production are on the market. Dr. Uludag has initiated the Bioelectronics studies at BİLGEM-TUBITAK and currently she is the manager of the Bioelectronics Devices and Systems Development Group. The group has developed TUBITAK’s first biomedical device SOBE® (transcoutan bilirubin measurement device) that has been licenced to a company for commercialisation. The group has also developed two fully automated biosensor devices (MiSens® and BiSens®). Dr. Uludag’s research interests include sensing and diagnostics, nanotechnology applications in analytical and life sciences, biosensor and sensor chip development, microfluidics and analytical device development.
