Professor Metin Başaranoğlu received his MD from Istanbul University. He completed his postdoctoral studies in St. Louis University School of Medicine/Liver Centre, St. Louis/MO, USA. He has studied Inflammatory Bowel Diseases (IBD, chronic ulcerative colitis and Crohn’s Disease), advanced endoscopy and metabolic liver diseases biology and therapeutics for 20+ years, during which time he has authored more than 100 peer-reviewed research articles and one book/published in NY.

He has served on the editorial boards for the journals and referee for “Gastroenterology”, “Hepatology”, and The American Journal of Gastroenterology.  He is a member of The American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases (AASLD) and The European Association for the Study of the Liver (EASL). He was awarded twice by AASLD (1998/2002) and once by EASL (2009).

He has served on numerous committees for the Turkish Gastroenterology Meetings, including as a congress secretary for The first International YBU Echoendoscopy Meeting in Ankara, Turkey, 2011.  His main research areas: Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), Crohn’s, Chronic Ulcerative Colitis, nonalcoholic fatty liver disease/NAFLD, echoendoscopy (EUS), advanced endoscopy and i-scan (pentax), RF ablation for HCC and fibroscan.
